What causes teeth to chip?
There are many causes, but usually it’s something like biting down on a hard piece of food like a hard sweet or a piece of bone. Other causes might be from chewing pencils or fingernails.
Is it ok to not repair a small crack in my tooth?
It’s always best to come in for a comprehensive exam to make sure the tooth is damaged. If it’s a surface level cosmetic crack, it may not need addressing immediately, but will need taken care of at some point.
Should I be worried if I chip my tooth?
Chipped teeth can be more vulnerable to decay, and even infection. Your tooth is supposed to be smooth, but the roughness of the chipped area could make it more likely to collect food and bacteria.
How are small cosmetic tooth chips fixed?
If the chip in your tooth is very small, we may simply smooth and polish the chipped tooth, and no additional treatment will be needed. It’s quick and inexpensive.
What should I do if I chip or break a tooth
Make an appointment to see us ASAP. Rinse your mouth with warm water. Use a piece of gauze to apply pressure to the area if there is bleeding.
