Questions We Get About Issues With the Shape of Teeth

What caused my teeth to chip over the years?
Biting on hard foods, chewing on pencils and fingernails can all contribute to tiny chips which compound over time. Perhaps your bite is misaligned, so when you talk or chew, there is a slight impact on your teeth.
Why do my teeth look too long?
It is possible that you have gum recession, where the gum tissue wears away from the tooth, forming pockets or gaps, and exposing the root of the tooth.
Will hard brushing affect the way my teeth look?
Overly aggressive brushing can cause tooth enamel to wear away. Use a brush labelled soft or use an electric toothbrush with indicators when you are brushing too hard.
Can a narrow smile be made to be wider?
In certain cases, yes. A narrow arch can be widened through the use of orthodontic treatment.
What causes teeth to get worn down?
The loss of tooth material (enamel and dentine) may be as a result of an unbalanced bite, teeth worn down from grinding (bruxism), jaw problems or lack of back teeth and hence increased chewing forces on the front teeth.
