COVID Level 1 Announcement

Our Clinic is Now Open for ALL General and Cosmetic Procedures

Dr Caroline Downing and the staff at North Shore Smiles are pleased to announce that the practice is now able to treat patients for all of their dental needs, including general and cosmetic dentistry. Due to recent health restrictions, like all dentists, North Shore Smiles was prohibited from offering treatment to patients other than emergencies.

The dental clinic is now allowed to open fully following approval from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, with dental service restrictions being downgraded to level 1 from the 8th of May 2020.

All of the staff at North Shore Smiles are delighted to be back at work and keen to help as many people as possible with their dental issues. Anyone in need of dental treatment is advised to book an appointment as early as possible, due to the pent up demand caused by the restrictions.

Health of Patients and Staff

According to the Australian Dental Association (ADA), dental practices already operate with a high degree of health protection. However, all of the staff will be following the government’s guidelines, which will include the wearing of full PPE equipment, social distancing measures, and regular use of hand sanitizer and hand washing. The company is also implementing a special appointment schedule designed to protect patients who would be most vulnerable to the serious consequences of contracting COVID-19. Patients identified as being at risk will receive appointments first thing in the morning. This will include patients over the age of 70, or those with chronic disease in particular cardiovascular or respiratory disease and those who are immunocompromised, for example, currently under cancer treatments, or insulin-dependent diabetics.

“We are all thrilled to get back to work serving our patients, following the lifting of the restrictions”, said Dr Caroline Downing. “We have a large number of patients who were scheduled for routine treatments, whose appointments had to be postponed. Now that we have permission from the government to reopen we can focus on helping our patients and serving their needs. All patients are welcome to book an appointment as normal, provided they are feeling healthy, and have not been in contact with anyone suspected or confirmed of having COVID-19. It is time to get back to normal life, so whether you need a regular check-up or want to enquire about Invisalign or other cosmetic procedures, then contact our office today.”
